The research, orchestration and writing of this story is, always with John Grisham, pure genius! The execution of such an obviously innocent young man is sorely frightening, as was the method of extracting his wrongful confession by the police/5(K).

The Confession is, put simply, a story about a man on death row who is innocent, a black man. (Because evidently the color of one's skin is important.) But more importantly, this is a politician's way of spreading his dislike of the death penalty. Strong words for a reviewer, I know, but that's the blatant idea Grisham gave me. The Confession is a legal thriller novel by John Grisham, his second novel to be published in (the previous was Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer). The novel is about the murder of a high school cheerleader and how an innocent man is arrested for it. Just as he did with his non-fiction work, "An Innocent Man," John Grisham clearly has an agenda with "The Confession." Whereas "Man" was about an innocent finding justice and freedom after years of incarceration, "The Confession" asks the question of just what might happen if an innocent man were sent to death row.
